Body Pump

I have a new full-blown addiction... and surprisingly, it's to a workout class! It's called Body Pump.

What is Body Pump?

Body Pump is a 1-hour weight training class where all the major muscle groups are worked out, from the warm up through legs, chest, back, triceps, biceps, shoulders and abdominals, before the stretch and cool down. Each exercise lasts the length of one track of music (which is about 4 to 5 minutes), with pauses between tracks used to alter weight levels. Body Pump is a strength endurance training class. Not just an aerobic exercise. It can help increase muscle tone and definition. Most of the exercises are based around weights ranging from 1 kg to 5 kg. You choose the weight that you are comfortable with. As you progress, you can continue to with increased weight. If you think you will get bored with the same music, no worries. Les Mills releases new Body Pump class every three months with new music and choreography!

It's awesome and from the classes I've been to, women outnumber the men.

I guess I like it a lot because I want to work on building lean muscle, but weight lifting by yourself isn't any fun. Doing it with a group is a lot more motivating AND you have someone telling you what you need to and should be doing.

You can search HERE and see if there's a gym nearby that offers the class.

Try it!

The Hot Chick

I have never been "the hot chick."

I don't have a great body, I've always been "soft," and I have ZERO boobage.

Sometimes I have a mustache if it's not waxed, and if I wax, I get fricken' zits. I can't win.

The only times in my life I've even been close to being "the hot chick," were times when I looked like this:

And this has happened maybe three times in my life and it's always been a struggle.

Those three times were:
1.) High School - and who doesn't look better when they're 18?!
2.) When I was 23 and did the Atkins Diet. Yes, it worked wonders, but you can't keep up a high-fat, low-carb diet your whole life. Can we all say hello to heart disease and high cholesterol?!
3.) When I was doing "bootcamp" at East Shore Athletic Club three days a week, from 6-7am... plus running and other misc. aerobic classes on my "off" days... AND I was eating close to nothing. (That is what produced the picture above.)

Even in that picture, I weighed about 140.

I'm 5'7" and currently weigh... 170. Yeah, I'm a fatty, and I can't explain how extremely hard it is for me to lose weight. The worst part is, I'm not small boned and I'm fairly muscular. It should be easier for me to lose weight with more muscle, but alas, no.

What makes it even harder is the fact that G is 6'6" and very athletic. While he does work out consistently (never any cardio, just weight lifting) he eats like shit! That boy I'm sure eats McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Chipotle and every other shit food under ths sun behind my back while he's at work and doesn't gain an ounce. And then when he's at home he wants pizza, or mac-n-cheese, or some other God-awful bad-for-you food, which of course, doesn't help me or support me.

Sure, I could eat Lean Cuisines and Smart Ones every night for dinner, but I take him into consideration and try to cook for both of us. It doesn't help either that he is incredibly picky when it comes to food, especially if it's healthy.

I don't know what to do. I'm trying to work out more. I'm taking ephedrine to curb my appetitite (no worries I'm not going overboard), and while it's working... I don't think I'll ever be what I want to be, let alone what G wants me to be.

We've made the agreement that if I get down to my "goal weight," which would be around 140-145, he will pay for a breast augmentation for me... which again, don't worry, I've thought about this one for a long time too. (Having A's or and A and a Double A isn't cool when you're my size!)

I'm just tired of having low self-esteem and being the F.U.F. (fat ugly friend).

Gah.

Day 1584.

Check out my favicon! I'm slowly learning how to customize my blog a bit. When I was very obsessed with MySpace about two years ago, I taught myself HTML and CSS. I was actually more obsessed with DIV overlays for my MySpace page than anything else, and I got very good at it with Photoshop. I have yet to learn how to really change much on here, but I'm trying.

The hockey game last night was a shut out! The Sharks beat the Avs, 3-0! It was great and there were a lot more Sharks fans than I expected! (Thanks love, I had a great time with you!!!)

This afternoon will consist of riding home on the bus (and becoming nauseated from someone sitting next to me and the thought of their clothing, purse, etc. touching me), waiting for G to get home from work too, and going to the gym. I'm trying very hard to watch what I shove in that gaping hole in my face I call my mouth and to exercise more.

Running is my choice of exercise. Running about 30 minutes and getting about 3.X miles logged on my Nike+, plus some push-ups, crunches, and maybe some dips following that and I'm done. Speaking of running, when I lived in Charleston, I participated in quite a few runs. They were all little 5Ks or 10Ks, but they were SO. MUCH. FUN. They were also fun because I could get multiple people to run them with me. Most of the time it was G's co-worker Clay and my co-worker Steph.

While living in Charleston, I ran (and I may have forgotten one or two):
Cooper River Bridge Run (10k) x2
James Island Connector Run (10k)
IOP Connector Run (10k)
Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure (5k)
Half Moon Outfitters, Reindeer Run (5k)
Make a Wish Foundation, Waves and Wishes (5k)
Charleston 9 Memorial Run (5k)

I miss doing runs, but they're not the same here without my running buddies. Although, I'm going to try to make it back to Charleston for the bridge run in April. I can only imagine how much easier it is going to be running at sea level with all of my extra red blood cells I have acquired living a mile high!

This week is dragging by. Last night before going to bed, it felt like today should've been at least a Thursday or a Friday. Alas, it's only Hump Day.

Friday, G's friend E should be here and then we're going out to dinner for my b-day. Saturday, we're getting up early and heading to either Vail or Beaver Creek for a day of boarding. Sunday, I'm sleeping in, making a Target run for Super Bowl necessities, making my infamous layered bean dip, drinking a bit, watching the game, and then turning in to bed to prepare for another long, tedious, monotonous week.

Blergh.
